Timber Deck

 What is Timber Decking?

Timber decking is increasingly the material of choice for stylish or contemporary gardens. Timber has inherent warmth and beauty which enhances its surroundings; making the atmosphere somehow softer, calmer. Timber decking also works well alongside other materials and offers huge scope and design flexibility. It allows you to create unique and captivating spaces and is ideal for both private and public areas.

What are the benefits?

  • Attractive - Wood boasts of a rustic, natural appearance that enables it to give your home the much-needed aesthetic value and authentic elegance. There is a wide range of textures, patterns, shapes, and colours, giving you the opportunity to choose the right one that blends well with your existing garden design.
  • Low maintenance - One of the many advantages of timber decking is that it requires very little maintenance over the course of its lifetime. You just need to mop it once in a while using professional cleaning products to keep it looking beautiful and vibrant. You'll also need to polish the wood once or twice a year to reduce the likelihood of mould or bacterial growth.
  • Durability - Apart from being strong enough to hold the light and heavy weights without breaking, hardwood timbers have a natural resistance to harsh weather conditions, bugs, and moulds, enabling them to last for a long period of time. Whereas, softwood timbers are pressure-treated with special types of chemicals in order to prevent rotting, termite invasion, and other dangerous timber problems that can reduce their lifespan.
  • Flexibility - Timber decking has plenty of applications. It can be used around ponds, water features, pools, and under pergolas, explaining why it is considered highly flexible. Apart from providing you with a perfect place to relax with your family and friends, it also provides a safe playing area for your kids and a place to hold parties for your guests outdoors.

The Installation Process

For a timber deck:
posts holes will be marked and dug out, removing any waste via skip. Treated posts will then be set deeply into the ground with postcrete for a long-lasting and extremely sturdy deck. Treated 4” x 2” timbers will be fixed level with strong nails to the posts to create the frame for the deck. High-quality wooden deck boards will then be fixed to the frame of the deck, with staggered joints and even spacing.
