Millboard
What is Millboard Decking?
The core materials that Millboard is made from are polymer-based resin and a variety of fibres including glass, carbon and natural fibres which are used for reinforcement.
What are the benefits?
Algae resistant - Real wood can turn green with algae over time. This can lead to a slippery, dangerous surface and also makes it very labour intensive, as it will require frequent cleaning. Being algae-resistant makes Millboard decking a great choice for outdoor kitchens or outdoor dining areas.
Anti-slip - Even when wet, Millboard decking boasts high anti-slip ratings thanks to its unique resin material.
Durable - Millboard is a hardwearing composite that will never splinter, warp or rot. The Lastane finish means it's highly resistant to scratches and it’s also UV resistant so it won’t fade over time.
Natural look - Millboard is hand coloured with authentic tones. Meaning it is available in many ranges and colours and can perfectly replicate any wood.
Low-maintenance - Millboard won’t need regular oiling, sanding or staining like a traditional deck. The non-porous material means that it’s highly resistant to food and drink stains.
The Installation Process
For Millboard Decking:
The deck area will be cleaned before being excavated to the appropriate depth. The area will then be covered by a thick geotextile membrane to suppress the future growth of weeds. Posts holes will be marked every 1sqm and dug out to a minimum of 400mm deep. Treated posts will then be set deeply into the ground with postcrete for a long-lasting and extremely sturdy deck. Treated timbers will be fixed level to the posts to create the frame for the deck. High-quality deck millboards will then be screwed down flush and evenly, with staggered joints. The step will also be framed and faced with millboards, around the perimeter edging a board will be reversed to create a neat and tidy finish. Once the deck has been installed it will be cleaned and will be ready to use!
