What is Feather Board Fencing?

Feather board is quite simply the type of fencing that is made using thick wooden slats. These thick wooden slats are what gives this type of wooden fence the name “feather board”. These thick wooden slats are then nailed to the fence, and supported by thick wooden posts. The overall design is so that the fence can be built quickly yet offer a fencing option that is durable.

The Installation Process

For a feather board fence: Firstly, we will remove the existing fencing and debris via skip. Next, post holes will be dug to an appropriate depth (approximately 600mm depth) for the posts to be set, ensuring a long-lasting and secure fence. The posts for the fence will be set plumb and level using postcrete. Once the posts are set, the fence will be framed with structural timber battens and featherboarded with high-quality tanalised treated timber to match the existing fence. After all the works are completed the area will be cleaned thoroughly.

For a matching bespoke feather board gate: The bespoke feather board gate will be framed with high-quality structural timber, before being featherboarded to create a flowing gate, which blends in with the adjoining fence. The gate will have hinges, handle and latch.
